Occupational Therapy

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational Therapists (OTs) believe that an occupation is anything that you need, want, or are expected to do in your day. For children, this includes playing, being social, learning, and activities of daily living. For adults, this includes working, socializing, participating in hobbies, and activities of daily living and self-care. For ALL individuals, Occupational Therapists can help you to feel comfortable, regulated, and safe throughout your daily life. Occupational Therapists offer a whole lot more than working on proper pencil grip!

Occupational Therapists support individuals experiencing challenges in any of the following areas:

  • sensory processing disorders

  • developmental differences + delays

  • independence in daily living skills (e.g., dressing, eating, sleeping, toileting, hygiene)

  • sensory + emotional regulation

  • understanding sensory processing differences and profiles

  • self-advocacy

  • educational and/or vocational needs
