Group Therapy Classes for Preschoolers

Looking for a small class-like opportunity for your child to receive support for their development while also interacting with peers and gaining familiarity within a play-based and semi-structured environment?

As a parent of a child who has unique abilities and needs in the areas of communication, regulation, play, and/or social-emotional development… you are looking for an inclusive group-based environment in which your child can target their individualized goals while also interacting with peers and forming friendships!

What are Group Therapy Classes for Preschoolers?

A unique group-based opportunity for a class of up to 6 children each with unique abilities and needs. Group Therapy Classes are facilitated by a Speech-Language Pathologist or Occupational Therapist to promote communication, regulation, and social/peer interaction from within a neurodiversity-affirming interventional approach.

Classes run weekly over a semester-based period of time (e.g., September - December) and offer a two-hour group therapy class each week. Through a semi-structured and class-like routine (i.e., Circle time for stories, Centre time for play-based learning, Snack time, and Goodbye time) our team will use a child-led play-based approach to target each child’s individualized therapy goals while also supporting group engagement, peer interaction, and social connection.

Eligible for insurance benefits, Autism Funding program, and Jordan’s Principle funding.

Program Fee

$110 per class (i.e., a 2-hour SLP group therapy session)
Fees are paid monthly or for a full semester. Classes cannot be purchased individually.
The exact number of classes in a semester varies (e.g., 16 classes in Sept - Dec 2023).

There are two class time options in each semester (child attends just one class option):
Class 1 - Wednesdays, 9:00 - 11:00AM
Class 2 - Thursdays, 9:00 - 11:00AM

Semesters will run from September through December and January through May.

How to Apply

Group Therapy Classes are only open to existing clients of the Pathways Therapy Team. This means that our Group Therapy Classes for Preschoolers are only accessible to internal applications and referrals from within our existing therapy clients. As an existing therapy client at Pathways, our team will have the best ability to understand your child’s abilities, and needs, and make recommendations to join a Group Therapy Class when your child is ready. We care about your child’s experience with and success in our programs, and want to be sure your child is fully ready to get the most out of the program!

All children who participate in our Group Therapy classes start out at Pathways in either Speech-Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy. Starting with either, or both, of these services at Pathways will be a beneficial way to fully understand your child’s communication and sensory/emotional needs and the general approach our therapy and Group Therapy Facilitators would use to support your child.

“Accessing services from Pathways is one of the best decisions we’ve ever made, not only for our son but also for our family. Because of them, we were finally able to guide and support our son at the level that he’s at. We are ever grateful. Keep it up Pathways!”
